About Our Prices:

Prices for services are listed in our price list.  These prices are guidelines; actual prices may vary slightly.  To inquire about a specific project, contact us.  Be sure to include desired illustration size, media (i.e. pencil, colored pencil, ect.), number of illustrations, and a general timeframe for completion.  When sending photos for portraits, remember that the size and quality of your photo affects the quality of your finished artwork, so try to refrain from sending small or low quality images.  I prefer digital submission, but photos may also be mailed to me (I will return the original if you provide a self-addressed stamped envelope).

What to Expect:

After contacting me with your project request, I will get back to you with a price or price range estimate for your project.  In cases of complex projects requiring a lot of time, a price range estimate is more accurate, and your final cost can be expected to fall somewhere within that range.

Once a price and terms have been agreed upon, work will begin on your project.  A partial payment may be required up front; however, a proof will be sent for your approval before final payment.  In cases of scientific illustration and logo design, multiple proofs, sketches, and examples may be sent before the final revision process.  Pricing includes all costs such as materials, labor, correspondence, and shipping.  Extensive consulting and research may result in the addition of an hourly rate (to be agreed upon by the artist and client).  Final art can be delivered by mail, email, or CD.  When you commission a piece of artwork from us, you agree to accept our Art and Image Useage and Copyright Guidelines.

Materials:

Prairie Ridge Studio attempts to use only the finest quality art materials and acid-free papers to ensure that we will deliver the highest quality artwork that will stand the test of time.  If you would like to inquire about specific materials we use, or will use for your project, contact us.

Payment:

Currently cash or check are the only forms of payment we accept.  Checks should be made out to the artist (Heather Secker), and payments can be sent to our mailing address (See the Contact Us portion of our website). 

How We Determine Our Prices:

Interested in how we determine our prices?

Pricing depends on the following factors:

-Size

-Cost of materials

-Time required for completion

-Amount of detail/intricacy

-Required deadline

-Image usage (how the image will be used, how often it will be used, and where it will be used)

-Consulting and revision fees

-Type of media used

-The amount of background research required (if any) to complete the piece

As a general rule, prices for commissioned scientific illustrations, logos, and fine art will be higher and more variable due to the scope of such projects, while prices for portraits and image use will be lower and less variable.  For example, a small black and white pencil sketch will range lower in price than a larger, more detailed painting.

Art and Image Usage and Copyright Guidelines:

When commissioning an illustration for business use (to be published, for instance), the original illustration and copyright remain the property of the artist.  When commissioning an illustration for personal use (to own), such as a portrait, the original illustration becomes your property, although all rights and copyright remain with the artist.  In other words, you may reproduce, but not resell the image.  The artist may use the illustration in self-promotional materials.

All photographs, scans, sketches, prints, and digital images are copyrighted by the artist, and are not to be reproduced or resold without express written permission.  If you would like permission to use our images or are interested in purchasing rights for limited usage of an image, contact us.
